MOTTOmix

Kathrin Böhm & Stefan Saffer

11.02. - 27.02.00.

This time OTTO has moved into a previous bike shop, Njalsgade 19 builing 1, where we present the exhibition "Mottomix" with the two German artists Kathrin Böhm and Stefan Saffer.

OTTO will be turned into a kind of laboratoy of ideas, which is brought to life in an environment of colours, material and mottos on the move. Kathrin Böhm & Stefan Saffer started collaborating in 1998 and have realized various projects since then, for example "Happy Hobby" at Tablet Gallery and picnics at Camden Arts Centre, London. Their joint practice normally takes place on-site and includes wide range of activities, events and guests. It's aiming to include different aspects of a site-specificness they are interested in and it is based on a rather ad hoc and spontaneous approach towards situations and sites.

It could be described as a 1:1 practice where communication with the visitors/users of a site and the 1:1 realization of visual/architectural ideas within the given space characterizes their projects. "Mottomix" can metaphorically be understood as a forest of ideas, as the forest is a place luring you away from the everyday and allowing you to relax a bit. In comparison to that the gallery could be seen as a landscape to walk around - it is visually diverse enough to keep your senses fully occupied. Different activities will aim to encourage "play" rather than "work" thereby prioritating a more recreational than educational aspect of the art.
